Admission to Texas State does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission to the program is competitive and selective. It is recommended that students arrange academic advising at least once prior to making application.
The academic sequence begins during the fall semester. The deadline for submission of applications is January Satisfactory completion of all general education core curriculum and a minimum overall GPA of 2. Program Overview The Texas State Radiation Therapy Program was the first in Texas to offer a bachelor of science in radiation therapy graduating its first class in Thirty-two Radiation Therapy Program students, who have chosen a major in this cancer related profession, enrich their lives as they work with cancer survivors, family members who have lost loved ones, marrow donor drives, and community and national agencies involved in educational development.
These students become the extensions of Texas State as Ambassadors working with students at other Texas universities to educate and recruit others to become marrow donor registrants. Clinical Education Students are provided clinical education through cooperative relationships with 26 cancer centers in the Central Texas region to provide a strong and diverse clinical foundation for the program.
A major strength noted by the accreditation process has been the strong support of a large group of clinical supervisors. Students are provided two Dosimetry and Treatment Planning courses.
